A LITTLE HISTORY OF THE TOWN OF SENIA,
IN MONTSIA
(TARRAGONA.)

THIS RIVER HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RIVER SENIA; THIS IS A DETAIL MY OWN FOR ALL VISITORS

The River Sénia, our River:

The river Sénia is the birth of a union between Catalonia and the Valencian country and is The administrative limit of the two communities, Denning apart the boundaries between communities, The river is the gateway to the Tinença of Benifasar and the natural access of the massifs of the ports. On the other hand it is necessary to emphasize the importance of the river like biological corridor between the high parts Of the mountainous massifs and the lower ones where the river flows to the sea.

The river Sénia is born in the ravine of Salt, very close to the town of Fredes and flows to the Mediterranean between the towns of Alcanar And Vinaroz, more specifically in the area known as Sol de Riu. The head of the river is constituted by a framework Of ravines that only carry water during the rainy season, except for some ravines such as Salt or Fou At the height of the Fuente del Teix. The most important are the ravine of La Fou and de la Pobla, which Converge to the Swamp that regulates the flow downstream. From this point, the flow rate is constant for about 10 Kms and can observe A river enveloped by a deep forest of riverside with places that invite to visit it.

Another attraction of the river are the natural lagoons (Bassas) formed by the wear of water in its passage above Of calcareous rocks. There are also artificial lagoons made by the hand of man known as (Peixeres-Partidors -Tancas). From the construction of small dams, water was channeled to one (Sequia) and Thus they were formed the (Bassa). Normally the water channeled by this system was left for agricultural use or industry. Today these (Peixeres-Tolls) are excellent places to enjoy a good bath and cool off the heat of the summer.

The Senia river is a short coastal river of the east of Spain, located in the northeast of the province of Castellón; During most of its route marks the border between this province and that of Tarragona. It is 49 km long and flows into the Mediterranean Sea.
The river Senia was born in the Ports of Beceite, within the municipality of Puebla de Benifasar, in the region of Maestrazgo.
The waters of the Senia River later accumulate in the reservoir of La Senia, located also in the municipal term of Puebla de Benifasar, to 477 ms of altitude. With an area of 116 hectares and a capacity of 11 hm3, it is the only work of regulation of the river and is intended for irrigation.
From the reservoir, the river runs through areas of steep slopes, which provides a high oxygenation, being the vegetation very abundant, which contributes to maintain the habitat of the fish life. Subsequently, and before reaching La Senia, there are derivations of flow that supply the irrigation of this area, about 2,360 hectares.
Shortly before La Senia (locality belonging to the province of Tarragona), the river reaches the border between Catalonia and the Valencian Community; From then on and up to its mouth, the Senia River will serve as border boundary between these two autonomous communities.
From this point the channel practically does not receive natural contributions and the water quality deteriorates notably.
Near the town of Alcanar, the river enters Plana de Vinaròs and crosses it until it reaches the Mediterranean Sea in Sòl de Riu.

I guess it's clear and no more explanations are needed,
