Cuando en abril del año 1938 las tropas franquistas llegaron a la Sénia, el aeródromo fue ocupado por ( la Legión Cóndor ) y sirvió de base para atacar el frente sur de Valencia primero, para la batalla del Ebro después y finalmente para la ocupación de Cataluña
